Water glasses can be tumblers, or they can be goblets, or they can be served from a beaker. Water glasses have the largest range not only in terms of design, but also of the average per ounce capacity. Large water glasses can contain up to 12 ounces, while the smallest glasses are designed for little more than 4 ounces.
 

Generally speaking, water glasses do not have stemware, or if they do feature a stem, it is very short and close to the base. Water glasses with stems are usually served in formal occasions, while non-stemmed water glasses are saved for informal, daily drinking.
